.: How to retrieve cd-keys from installed software
If you ever need to re-install software but you have no idea where you saved the cd-key then you know how
important it is to have a piece of software to do all the work for you. The beauty of the following program is
that you do not need to boot the harddrive that you are looking for the key from, I'll get into that a little later.
Magical Jelly Bean Keyfinder 2.0.6
Download the above mentioned program and extract it to anywhere you like. Once the program is extracted go ahead and run
program on the computer you want the key from. In the window will be all the keys that the program finds.
Now let's say you need a key from a computer that can not boot (happens all the time)
Remove Hard Drive from bad computer
Install the Hard Drive in any working computer
Boot the working computer and run the KeyFinder program
Select Tools--Load Hive...
Browse to the other Hard Drive and select the location [Drive]\Windows\System32\Config (Where [Drive] is the broken Hard Drive)
All keys will then be displayed, just print the list and you are done!
